We are thrilled to announce that Bayede XO Royal Cape Brandy has achieved remarkable success, winning gold at the prestigious Cordial Mondial de Brussel, following its double gold medal victory at the Michelangelo 2024 awards!
The Essence of Cape Brandy
Cape Brandy is a distinguished title reserved for pot-distilled brandies originating from the Cape Winelands of South Africa. The vinification, distillation, and maturation processes must occur within an officially demarcated Cape wine of origin region. Quality and provenance are independently certified by the Cape Brandy Distillers Guild, ensuring excellence in every bottle.
Crafting the Perfect Eau de Vie
The foundation of this exceptional XO brandy lies in the finest Chenin Blanc and Colombard grapes, meticulously harvested from select sites. The vinification takes place at the source, and the base wines are transported to our distillery in the Elgin Valley within ten days of harvest to preserve their fresh essence.
Distillation and Maturation Mastery
Our brandy undergoes double distillation in pure copper stills, with only the heart of the second distillation being reserved. Each batch is rigorously evaluated by our Master Distiller. The chosen batches are then matured for at least a decade in a humidity-controlled environment, utilizing a combination of French Oak and American Bourbon barrels, none larger than 285 liters.
Tasting Notes
Bayede XO Royal Cape Brandy presents a delicate bouquet of peach and apricot notes, intertwined with deeper layers of cloves and curry leaf. The palate is exceptionally smooth, leaving a lingering aftertaste of vanilla and African honey—a truly rare and surprising spirit, worthy of its royal endorsement.
Empowerment through Elegance
The beadwork around the neck of the bottle is a testament to our commitment to job creation for women in rural areas. This intricate craftsmanship not only enhances the look and feel of our distinguished XO brandy but also supports and empowers communities by providing valuable employment opportunities.
